We all know what introverts and extroverts are but what if you lie somewhere in between? My whole life, I’ve never identified myself as either an introvert or an extrovert. I’ve seen so many articles recently about ambiverts so I am in no way claiming that this research is my own but I would like to share what I came across because I am sure there is more out there like me or ‘us’.

Let me begin by describing what an ambivert is according to these articles that I have read. The simplest way to explain it is someone that is able to balance both introvert and extrovert features in their personality but for me, I feel that I am actually an introvert that is able to socialise like an extrovert. I know this because I sometimes get anxiety before- hand if I know that I am going to be surrounded by groups of people but once I am in the situation, I can’t help but end up being the life of the party and when I get home, I feel physically drained and wonder if people genuinely enjoyed my company. When I am caught off guard, like either meeting one of you guys or asked to give a speech without having been prepared, I get so very shy because I haven’t mentally prepared myself for it.

Here are some facts about ambiverts that I can relate to and maybe you can too. If you can then you might be one too

  1. I am more comfortable meeting new people when I am with one of my friends because it provides safe harbour.
  2. I find that being an ambivert, I am able to connect with more people be it introverts and extroverts because my personality doesn’t lean towards one direction.
  3. I don’t like small talk. I feel that it can be a bit insincere so I would rather avoid it. This is why when I meet you guys, I always ask how you are, how old you are and so on because I really do want to know.
  4. I love my own company. I honestly can spend an entire weekend all by myself and be 100% content.
  5. FOMO rarely exists.
  6. I mostly don’t think before I speak and can hurt feelings without even knowing it
  7. I am so intuitive. I often judge the outcome of a situation so that I can be super prepared before-hand.
  8. I love asking for help but hardly like to be corrected.
  9. Although it may not seem like it, I am always observing my surroundings.
  10. I love attention but hate being the centre of it.
  11. I always get an awkward anxiety before initiating conversation but once I am in it, I can go on and on.

Please let me know if you can relate to any of these points, I would love to know!

Two of my favourite fabrics have finally joined forces to create sheer beauty. When I saw this skirt in the store, it just had to be mine. It’s almost as if I fell in love for the first time. Have you ever felt that way over an item of clothing or is that just me? I’m sure MANY ladies can relate right now though. Although it can’t really be worn for any occasion, it’s just one of those pieces I think I would like to keep for my little girl one day and say, ‘look how fashionable your mom was!’.

I decided to pair it with this Metalica shirt to stay true to the skirts rocker-edge and as some of you might have noticed, I’ve been wearing this shirt pretty much all the time. I topped it all off with a classic pair of mules to add some sort of elegance to the look in its entirety.  I will admit that this look made me feel like a bit of a badass because I think it takes some level of confidence to wear a tule skirt, let alone over a denim skirt so I was pretty proud of myself. What do you guys think?

I’ve gotten many different comments on these fur-slides and I know I might look back and think ‘Nadia, what were you actually thinking’ but for now I AM INLOVE! I’ve really been trying to play up my style to show a bit more diversity and appeal to more of you whilst remaining true to myself at the same time. I wouldn’t want to post something I wouldn’t  actually wear in real life.

I find that these slides kinda represent my personality in a way, either you love them or you hate them. I will admit that being in the public eye has really tested me in a way that I have tried my best to stay true to my personality and not change. Sometimes fashion isn’t always about what everyone loves but rather what makes you feel like your most authentic self.

For this look, I decided to go with these very delicate pleated pants because I felt like changing it up a bit and you can wear them with sneakers, slides or heels. I’ve also paired it with my camel coat that is so unbelievably comfy and warm. The camel coat really brings out the warmth in the slides and is honestly perfect for Autumn – be it that ‘in-between’ kinda weather.

I was only going to post this look tomorrow but I want to start posting more frequently so WHY NOT post today? This post is purely just for the look.

As you might have noticed, I have been obsessed with these sleeves lately and it is super super trendy. I find myself buying different variations of it, be it in jerseys or ones like this – it’s just so damn elegant! It’s also reeeallly hard to find nice skirts that aren’t too short because as you can see, my legs aren’t exactly skinny so I think that this skirt is the perfect length without making me look too ‘exposed’. I love that the zip on the skirt is diagonal which also gives the illusion of a slimmer frame, cool hey?

I have also been on the hunt for a good pair of basic boots that can be taken from season to season. By this I mean, it will never really go out of style and you can wear it with anything- I mean my mom bought a pair too, they are so amazing and comfortable! I also love that the material is super soft so I don’t have to worry about wearing it in like you have to do with most quality boots.

I actually can’t remember the last time I wore a girly dress like this one and it felt quite nice for a change. This wrap dress is the perfect blend of sexy and sophistication. I think I’ll be making a habit of wearing more dresses because I love how simple and delicate it is but it makes such a powerful statement. It conceals all the important bits and flatters my figure. I think that because I am a bit more curvy, I was so surprised when I saw how nicely this dress complemented my frame and trust me, that is not so easy to come by these days. This print is SO trending right now too especially in the deeper colours and the larger prints.

I stumbled upon this location on our way to another location close by and just HAD to shoot there when I saw the word ‘rooti’ because anyone that knows me knows that I am OBSESSED with rootis so I think it was fate.

I know I have been MIA on the blog lately but that is purely because I have been so so busy. In the process of well.. LIFE, I started to neglect my first love. I started all of this about 2 years ago and had no idea I would end up where I am so it has all been a real adjustment for me but I promise that I am back for GOOD!

I’ve learnt so many valuable life lessons and I have also learnt that people are not always what they seem so I’m just going to keep doing me and keep on working my way up. Don’t get me wrong, although this path has made me a much stronger person, I still remain sensitive and tread with caution. Fortunately, I have many followers, friends and family who remain my pillar of strength through all my endeavours. I’m so lucky to be doing what I love and I thank my creator for giving me strength through it all.

So let me leave you with one last thought… I’ll try my best to continue being some sort of inspiration to you be it in fashion, life or even just humour.

About this Look:

As some of you may know, fashion is my very first love so I am delighted to be sharing it with you guys again. I think I have accepted that my style literally changes every day depending on my mood. For this particular look, I decided to go for a casual-chic look. This is probably my favourite jacket I own in my entire closet right now, it’s airy and can literally go with anything and perfect for just about any occasion.

The top I am wearing is not really a top but a one-piece swimsuit from River Island. Whenever I buy a one-piece swim suit, I always make sure that I would be able to incorporate into more than just one look. Also, I have been wearing this belt with everything, I think you guys actually might be getting tired of it haha.

H&M Forever Summer! I just know that you will love their new range as much as I do!

This boob-tube bikini top is so comfortable because it doesn’t move out of place. I always worried about it falling down because it doesn’t really offer the support a regular bikini would but its silicone edging ensures that it does not BUDGE! Not to mention that the colour complements every skin tone and the pattern just screams summer.

As you may know, I love my sunglasses and this pair from H&M spoke to my personality in so many ways in that it is fun and vibrant.

We all have those lazy summer days when you literally just want to throw something on and still feel fabulous, well H&M’s throw over dress is just perfect for that. I love that it feels so light on my skin and you can go from the beach to drinks with the girls and just throw on a pair of heels.

This has to be one of my favourite looks from their summer collection simply because it’s so chic and playful. I love its unusual and dreamy pattern and will definitely be added to my summer classic collection.I feel every girl should invest in a good playsuit for summer. The shoes and bag are also from H&M and I chose to pair it with neutral colours because I feel nothing should distract from this amazing playsuit.

I went a bit basic with this HMForeverSummer look but not in a bad way. It’s so hard to find a good denim shorts that flatters my body shape and I find that with this retro-styled shorts, it hugs my curves in all the right places. Its stretchy fabric makes it so easy to slide into. I paired it with a super simple tank top because I am a strong believer in that basic white tee to compliment just about any outfit.

You have to be familiar with the off-the-shoulder trend by now because it has literally been the staple of this summers fashion trend. It’s so whimsical and flirty without being too ‘out there’ Anyone can pull this look off and feel super stylish in it. Ideally, I would wear this dress to a date night but it is just as easy to dress it down and wear it to the beach. It all depends on you and that’s what I love about this dress in that it is so versatile and charming.

I have never really been a lover of the colour red, mostly because the colour just intimidated me. In fact, my mother always said, ‘ Start wearing red Nadia and step in your power’. I suppose to her the colour represents strength, passion and determination whilst to me the colour just made me feel like I was calling out for attention. However, I have learnt that there is a time and place for wearing red because it is such a powerful colour.

It’s safe to say that I felt incredibly sexy in this shade and this classic cut makes it so easy for me to play with this look and make it my own, although some might have seen it as a ‘grannies’ dress on the hanger. To be honest, I didn’t feel like a granny at all but rather wearing this dress excited me to take action in my plans. I know this may seem silly but I truly felt that way and unapologetically so. Only once I was completely comfortable with myself, was I able to rock this colour. Now that says a lot about wearing a colour. Think about it, when you went through your emo days in high school, what colour were you most likely to wear? When you were feeling very happy and excited, what colour did you wear?

There is so much meaning to colour alone that everyday we choose a colour that matches our mood unconsciously. When I am feeling super confident i tend to wear all white because then i feel that there’s literally nothing to hide. If you don’t want to dive right into it then you can subtly introduce it into your closet although this isn’t really a colour I would wear everyday.

Interesting Facts About The Colour Red

Red means ‘beautiful’ in Russian.

Chinese brides traditionally wear red wedding dresses as it symbolises good luck.

Seeing the colour red can make your heart beat faster.

Red is the first colour a baby sees.

It encourages action and enthusiasm.

Provides protection against fear and anxiety.

Hisense has just dropped this new android smartphone in South Africa. The Hisense Elegance is truly the ultimate accessory and I am so so excited to tell you a little bit more about this device. As some of you may have seen, I attended their amazing launch in Johannesburg a few weeks ago where we were briefed on these new smartphones and I was pleasantly surprised at how innovative and consumer friendly they are. I couldn’t wait to unbox it and try it out for myself and I found myself reaching for it when I wanted to take a selfie or capture a moment. I’d also listen to music on my frequent strolls on the Seapoint promenade. It looks sexy and sleek and definitely goes with any outfit of mine.

Some cool features:

  • This phone is 4G enabled which is amazing for me because I am constantly loading videos and pictures on my social media sites so this device makes it a bit more pleasant.
  •  It also has a sandblasted aluminium design which just means that although this device is lightweight and sleek, it is also strong and durable.
  • One my fave features is that it has fingerprint recognition conveniently located at the back of the device which is so practical. It unlocks in under a second and caters up to five different fingers.
  •  I also love that it has a data saving mode feature which allows you to save 50% of your data whilst not compromising the quality of the video – that’s amazing! You really are getting the best of both worlds.
  • It has a 5.5-inch full HD display that exhibits 400 pixels per inch. In other words, it’s super clear!
  • It has amazing camera quality and as a blogger, that is always super important. It has a 13MP camera on the back and a 5MP camera in the front with a 0.1 millisecond shutter speed. Do you have any idea how fast that is!
  • It comes with different modes such as beauty, night and professional as well as HDR modes. How Innovative?
  • It has 32GB storage on board and 3GB of RAM and if this is not enough, then this device does have a microSD slot that can cater for up to 128GB of additional memory. This SD slot can also be used to store an additional SIM slot.
  • The battery on this phone is amazing and I find that I don’t have to charge it twice throughout the day and is equipped with battery saving mode. When the phone hits 15% then the phone automatically closes any unnecessary applications.

I could go on and on but I thought I’d leave you with some of the key features that I have grown to absolutely love!

How to Enter:

  1. Post a picture of yourself on Instagram with your favourite accessory and include the hashtags #UltimateAccessory #UltimateElegance #BirdlineElegance and also include the Hisense Instagram handle – @HisenseSA
  2. Follow @HisenseSA on Instagram.
  3. The winner will be announced on Thursday the 17th of November at 7am and the phone will be sent to you.

It’s as simple as that! Goodluck!

P.S. Some of you may have been confused as you did not see the notice announcing that the winner will be announced on the 17th at 7am. I do apologize.

Zara dress, Call It Spring Shoes

To be honest, at first, this dress didn’t really appeal to me or to my sense of style as of late. It was on a slim mannequin and I just didn’t think to pick it up until a friend had pointed it out to me. I tried it on and instantly fell in love. It was just an unlikely dress that I didn’t think I would really like. Have you ever had a friend point something out to you that you didn’t take an interest in initially and you actually ended up loving? That doesn’t really happen to me often because I am usually the friend to point something out but I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. Safe to say that I will definitely be making this a Summer staple and you just might get sick of me wearing it.

This dress can be worn both with flats and heels. I opted for heels because it is quite an awkward length, especially for my height so I find that it is more flattering for my body type. It can be dressed down and worn to a picnic or even to the beach on a beautiful summers day with a lovely sun hat. The possibilities are endless!

Tips On Wearing a T-shirt Dress:

  1. For a more laid-back look, try pairing it with a pair of espadrilles or loafers and fun accessories.
  2. If you’re more of a tomboy then you could pair it with sneakers and a peak cap.
  3. You could keep it classy and wear it with a pair of heels, a bold lip, a choker and a cool clutch.
  4.  You could toughen up the look by pairing it with a pair of sneakers and a leather jacket.
  5. If you want to accentuate your waist but you don’t want to wear a belt then perhaps try tying a scarf around your waist and making a bow.
