I have never really been a lover of the colour red, mostly because the colour just intimidated me. In fact, my mother always said, ‘ Start wearing red Nadia and step in your power’. I suppose to her the colour represents strength, passion and determination whilst to me the colour just made me feel like I was calling out for attention. However, I have learnt that there is a time and place for wearing red because it is such a powerful colour.
It’s safe to say that I felt incredibly sexy in this shade and this classic cut makes it so easy for me to play with this look and make it my own, although some might have seen it as a ‘grannies’ dress on the hanger. To be honest, I didn’t feel like a granny at all but rather wearing this dress excited me to take action in my plans. I know this may seem silly but I truly felt that way and unapologetically so. Only once I was completely comfortable with myself, was I able to rock this colour. Now that says a lot about wearing a colour. Think about it, when you went through your emo days in high school, what colour were you most likely to wear? When you were feeling very happy and excited, what colour did you wear?
There is so much meaning to colour alone that everyday we choose a colour that matches our mood unconsciously. When I am feeling super confident i tend to wear all white because then i feel that there’s literally nothing to hide. If you don’t want to dive right into it then you can subtly introduce it into your closet although this isn’t really a colour I would wear everyday.
